Bittersweet Sunday

View from the top of Mt.Bre - San Salvatore is the mountain you can't see to the right
The donkey chillin...
Chiesa di San Giorgio - in Ruvigliana, cute little town
Ruvigliana, Gandria is down to the right
Near the bottom of the funicolare, there is one of the nicer hotels in Lugano, Villa Castangola

I woke up excited that I had another day with the freedom of a car! First I went and parked near Gandria, a town snuggled into the hills that curve around the lake. There is a famous olive path that is entertaining for running. I parked and went on a great run while enjoying the sun and the sights. Then I relaxed down by the lakeside until my friend Beth was ready to go on a hike. We decided to take the funicolare up to the top of Mt.Bre, since neither of us had been to this peak. There are just so many mountains to choose from it's hard to get to them all, but I'm doing my best. The hike was relatively easy, but at times we reached a road block, usually a massive tree that had fallen. It was great chatting! Beth is here with her husband. She teaches First and her husband teaches at the high school. Since we work at different campuses, it's rare that we have time to catch up. The hike ended back in Gandria where I had started my day. We took some great picks and off course appreciated the beautiful views. Knowing I am leaving soon just makes me appreciate everything that much more. As I said bittersweet for sure... :)
