The historical city center of Cusco #pleasingperu

Cusco

Our travel to Peru was pretty uneventful except for the excitement running high for our big adventure ahead. The flights were relatively on time except for our last leg from Lima to Cusco on LATAM. When we checked in they also tried to tell Summer that since it was overbooked she was actually on standby. Luckily it all worked out, but we did get a bit aggressive with the agent.  We arrived in Cusco about 930am and had a nice ride from our hotel shuttle transport.  Our only other companion was our new friend from Columbia, South Carolina named Jason.  He is on this trek on his own. Impressive!  We headed to the Perutreks office to get the final run down and also the duffle bag that we paid a porter a bit extra to carry for us along the trek. The rest of the day was pretty typical Peru! Maddy and Summer got a picture with baby llama...tourist trap for sure, but they were cute.  We shopped around checking out the sights and decided to schedule a private tour to the Sacred Valley tomorrow.  We wanted to try to make it to the Rainbow Mtns, but you have to leave at 2am and we were too worried it wouldn't give us enough time to test and acclimate.  We also asked the advice of our Perutreks guide and he didn't seem to think it was a good idea at all. More to come tomorrow!!
