MILANO

On Friday I took the train from Como to Milano to spend the day exploring and then meet up with Ashley when her flight arrived. We were lucky to be able to use her Starwood points and stayed at the Le Meredian right near the train station. We were frustrated to hear that her original flight was canceled, but then excited when she actually ended up getting in earlier. I walked all around Milan and window shopped in the Magenta and Brera area and then found the most amazing bakery with fresh foccacia off Via Mercato. I also checked out a restaurant my friend Ali had told me about called Obika. There actually have restaurants in a few different locations. They are very unique since they are basically a fresh mozzarella bar, yes I love Italy. You can order I think five different kinds of mozzarella different ways. Ashley and I were planning on going there for dinner, so I had to okay it! Once she arrived I met her at the train station, where she had taken the shuttle from the airport. It was so good to see her, since it’s been since December. We were also both filled with excitement about our Grecian vacation. I let her have some time to freshen up after her long flight from LAX to Paris and then Milan. While she was showering my Swiss friend Bernie called, who lives in Milan. He invited us over to have some drinks on his terrace, so of course we had to accept. We ended up having amazing wine, since he is moving back to Berne and wanted to get rid of most of the alcohol he had. We were very appreciative. He had four other Swiss friends in town and ended up staying for dinner when they offered. Swiss men are very competent. Not only did they “grill” as they said great steaks, they made a fresh couscous salad and green salad. We were very impressed. After a yummy dinner we went to a bar on Corso Como called Pitbull and then a club afterwards. Ashley was such a trooper, we ended up staying out until about 3:30am and left for our flight to Athens at 9am. She only yawned a few times!! I was impressed!
