Just thinking....

So being faraway from home and not having as many forms of entertainment at home (such as watching tv, even though i barely watch it at home) really gives me a lot of time to think about life...which can be good and bad.  I still sway back and forth when I think about the decision I'll have to make, probably around March.  Last night, I went to dinner at a student's home and another student's family also came over.  One of the fathers works for the company called Vanity Fair, not the magazine, but the  American Apparel Corporation (owns North Face, Seven, Reef, Vans) and the other father is the Director of Development for the school.  It was interesting seeing a different side of living abroad and noticing how even a family can begin to settle here and call it home.  It seems that they do not notice a lot of the inconveniences we do, since they have cars and belong to gyms and have time to get to the grocery store during the week.  The father that works for VF lived in Hong Kong for 9 years and we were talking about how magnificent the city is and what a wonderful experience it would be to live there. Supposedly, the english speaking community in Hong Kong (Americans, Canadians, New Zealanders and Australians) is larger than the entire population of Lugano.  That puts things in perspective...and makes this area seem so so small, which at times is nice.  After traveling to bigger cities we do say often, "oh it's so nice to be back in safe Lugano." Of course after living there for 9 years they have many ties there, including one with the Hong Kong International School, which happens to be a top school in the small international school community.  It definitely sparked my interest and again made me realize what a hard decision it will be.  It made me start thinking more about possibly applying to other schools abroad...I guess we'll just have to wait and see.  I do love being in Switzerland, the central location is great, we are surrounded by beauty, but at times I wish I was in more of a metropolitan city and had access to more of the culture.  Then the experience has also made me appreciate everything about my life at home, which leads me to believe I'll be ready to come home after this year.  I guess only time will tell.  Another excitement over the weekend, or last week was Christa had little baby Henry...CONGRATS!! Also, I am so excited to have a friend coming to visit...Kelly booked a ticket for February!  Anyone else...? Remember I do have an extra bedroom now!
