Dreamy Davos
For the weekend, I went skiing with some of my Swiss friends. In order to ski both days I traveled to Zurich on Friday night and then Stephan and Jean Marie and I drove up on Saturday. They are some friends we met in Saas Fee over New Year's. We arrived on the mountain in Davos, the area called Parsenn about 9am Saturday morning. Luckily, Jean Marie had won some contest, where he received three free lift tickets, lunch for the day and drinks at this special tent (or more like a igloo) on the mountain. It was great! Davos is a huge resort with tons of different parts to discover. We didn't even ski every mountain and it still seem massive. Saturday was probably one of the best days of skiing I've ever had. First of all, I like skiing with people who challenge me and it was also perfect weather. The sun was shining and the snow was perfect! We also met up with Stephan's mom's friend Ezio, who is Italian (from a town near Milano). He and his wife, Fiorenta, were in Davos for about 5 days taking a vacation. It was great because he knows the mountain really well. Besides at the very end of the day, when we wanted to see all the places we had skied we didn't pull out a trail map at all. One of my favorite parts of skiing in Switzerland is at every hut (which I love too, because they are all over the mountain) or restaurant there are rows of lounge chairs where you can relax and on days like Saturday enjoy the sunshine. Saturday night we went and had drinks with Ezio and his wife at their fancy hotel called Fluela and then ended up joining them for dinner too. Sunday we skied most of the day and then Stephan dropped me off in Landquart to take a train to Chur, a bus to Bellinzona and a train to Lugano. It sounds much worse than it actually is and only takes about 3 hours total. The only part that made me nervous, but I should be used to by now, was that the train arrived in Chur at 4:07 and the bus left at 4:08. Swiss precision again! Luckily, I was able to run because Stephan took my skis to wax for me. I was still able to make it home in time to relax and prepare for another week. It was a great active weekend and of course it only made me want to get up to other mountains I've heard about in Switzerland and Italy. Only four months left, so I guess I better hurry! By now if you check my blog often, you've probably realized that the slideshow is not working. My brother (or technical team) is still trying to fix the issue...
