Sunday was spent hitting all the big sights in the city. It wouldn't be a trip to London without a visit to Big Ben, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, and Buckingham Palace. I felt like it was a London walk on speed. We really were able to fit a ton of activities into a few days! After seeing the sights we walked through Green Park, stopped back in at Piccadilly and then headed over to Soho. We wanted to discover all the boutiques on Carnaby Street. Luckily, we found many that suited our needs including a Burger Restaurant. Actually I had a BBQ chicken sandwich that had never tasted so good! That night after a very late lunch we decided to forgo a big dinner and grabbed a cider in a pub close to our hotel instead. Unfortunately, it was a Sunday and at about 930pm when we were finally feeling hungry we went searching for something appealing on Edgware Road. Well after walking down the entire street we had only discovered way to much Lebanese food and tons of strange men sitting in cafes smoking hooka pipes. Not really our cup of tea. We were questioning our choice of neighborhoods. At least we stayed safe!
On Monday, we headed over to the east side of the city to see the Tower Bridge and Tower of London. It was another slightly sunny day and we were very thankful the rain had decided to not show up in London. Next we took the tube up to Camden Town. It wasn't exactly like we were thinking, the only thing I can think of that is close to the feeling you get in Camden is Haight and Ashbury. It was definitely where all the gothics go to buy new clothes. We stopped in a bar and met a cute Australian. He told us about a few things going on that night in Camden town, including his plan to go to the gay bar where there were cheap drinks. Bummer, we had to go to Wicked instead. From there we headed back to Oxford Street to do some shopping. For me seeing stores like Banana and Gap was very exciting. Kelly on the other hand was of course interested in stores more unique to Europe! After lots of walking around in crowds, we started back on the tube toward the hotel to get ready for dinner and Wicked.
Before the show, we stopped in for a drink at a pub and grabbed a bite to eat. Wicked was amazing! I'm so glad we had the opportunity to see it in London! Our last night was bittersweet. Kel was excited about her trip to Liverpool and I was sad to return back to work in Lugano. Our last day was spent stopping in to a few shops. I was excited to get my eyebrows waxed at Benefit (sad isn't it) and Kelly wanted to pick up one more token. From there we each took a separate tube line and had to say goodbye. :( Thanks for visiting Kel!! Miss you already!
