Copenhagen, Denmark...the happiest place on earth!
For the break, three other girls and I traveled to Copenhagen. It was relatively easy flight on "easy jet" out of Milan and into Copenhagen. Traveling here is definitely a bit easier than the US except for the part when Italians create a blob instead of a line when boarding a flight. Convenience in Europe is always apparent. Arriving in Copenhagen, we boarded a direct train right into the city center, only about 12 minutes. We stayed in an area called the Vesterbro, actually the old red light and meatpacking district, that is now a one of the hippest areas in the city. Over the weekend, we enjoyed a variety of food, which we're always excited about when traveling since we have primarily Italian here in Lugano. For our Thanksgiving dinner, we dined at a French Brasserie called Le Coq, then the next night went to a trendy Vietnamese place called Le Le, and for a final night enjoyed sushi at a place near our hotel called Burto. During the day, we did a lot of walking (on the biggest pedestrian street, Stroget), sight seeing, and googling at all of the expensive shops. Things in Copenhagen definitely appeared pricey, but we never really had the exact conversion for the Kroner worked out. Then going to Sweden for the day using the Swedish Kroner really threw us off. When the cold was too unbearable we snuck into what came to be our favorite Irish Pub, the Dubliner. At night, we were able to see all the sights including the Christmas markets in Tivoli Garden and went out to one of the big clubs called Vega one night. Everyone is Denmark was very friendly including the group of Norwegian men that were out simply celebrating Christmas! We also met some very young Americans that were living there playing basketball. We arrived back in Lugano to tons of snow and were sad we missed it, until Monday when it came back...
