The La V of Lugano...Principe Leopoldo

Last night, I went out to dinner with my roommate who is the college counselor at the high school. She was entertaining the Dean of Admissions from Northeastern who is here presenting to the students. Our night started by getting some drinks at our neighborhood bar hotel Principe Leopoldo. http://www.leopoldohotel.com/en/13/home.aspx#/0/0/ I had heard it was quite a nice hotel and very convenient to our place. Every time I go somewhere new I think I've seen the best view in Lugano, but this view took the cake. Unfortunately, it was around sunset and pictures did not come out very well. It really did remind me of La Valencia. Just the feel, the decor, and of course all the very wealthy people dining there. I'm sure we'll be back and I've also heard they have great hot chocolate in the winter. From there, we went to Cafe Retro on Lake Lugano for dinner. The nurses from the upper school also joined us. It's great talking to people that have been here , getting their take on things, and also hearing all their travel suggestions. At dinner, we had a charming italian waiter named Marcello that wanted my number to take me out on Sunday. We'll see about that, but Stacey was hilarious and kept egging him on. Everyone else was enjoying the entertainment it was causing. It was nice to have some good wine, good food, and good company. I've now eaten out of the dining hall for three nights and I'm getting quite used to it. Today some of the other ES teachers and I are heading to Luzern. We're hoping the rain that is supposed to arrive won't put too much of a damper in our plans. Will let you know how it goes! It will definitely be nice to be in a new city.
