The Italian Mix up

Okay this story is hilarious, but probably a little hard to follow...tonight I was supposed to meet my friend Marcello, an Italian we met when we were out to dinner last Friday. However, when Stacey and I went to meet him (after a lot of texts and phone calls giving the most simple directions in English possible) we both gave each other a strange look because we didn't think it was the Marcello we met last week. Now that I think back we should have been clued it that the guy we were talking to didn't know Lugano at all. We thought it was a little strange, but figured he just didn't get here often. As we're sitting at the table, Stacey said, "This is not the same guy, there is no way...who is this?" After about 20 minutes of giving each other looks that meant "who the heck is this?" it occurred to me that it definitely wasn't Marcello, but instead this guy named Giovanni that I met when I was at home in August at Jimmy O's of all places. He was from Milan and lives in Como, which explains why he didn't know Lugano well. I had been texting with both of them since Sunday, but assumed that I was talking to Marcello, when I guess Giovanni was contacting me from a number I didn't have in my phone. Since it was an Italian number I guess I assumed it was his...silly me. So after laughing about the situation for an hour we finally settled in to some very broken English conversation. It turned out to be a really fun night and Giovanni is excited to invite us to his home in Como and he wants to plan a night out in Milan to go to Nobu and some discoteca. Sounds good to me. He ended up driving us home and Stacey and I gave him a tour of Montagnola and TASIS. He had driven all the way from Como (45 min), so we figured it was the least we could do. It's definitely a story that will be remembered!!! Not sure where I left off with Marcello...
