Day one

After breakfast we headed over to one of the ES buildings called Hadsall. Grades 3-6 are in Hadsall, which is right across the street from the main school building, where the reception office and the dining hall are found. By the way, this is also where I get any mail or packages, which is very convenient! The other ES building is down the road about half way between the main part of campus and my apartment, which is in a different town called Gentilino, rather than Montagnola. I'm living with a girl that is the high school counselor named Stacey, but she isn't here yet since the high school does not start training until next week. I have the smaller of the two bedrooms in our rather large apartment, since my stay is only temporary. The only downside to the apartment is the location. It is at least a 15 minute walk up hill to school. I really don't mind the walk on the way, but I'm not really looking forward to it at night. However, Lugano has a very safe reputation and everyone says not to worry AT ALL. The sights walking to campus are absolutely stunning. Our day today was full of meetings preparing for school to begin, finishing our Swiss visa work permit paper work, and a tour of the campus. So far everyone I've met is positive, interesting, and excited about this new opportunity. There are definitely lots of challenging aspects considering the convenience of getting materials here. Tomorrow we will get to find out where are classrooms are and hopefully get class lists, so we can begin preparing for the school year.
